Description About Pirastro Company
Pirastro Chorda strings are natural plain gut strings.
Sound is defined as mild projection, warm and subtle.
Available in 4/4 size.

Strings are sold in sets or individually.

  • E-, A- and D-strings come as plain, without a knot, while G-strings have a knot-end.
  • The Standard set is suggested for A440Hz, and for A415Hz use a thicker gauge.
  • The Standard medium set contains the following strings:
    • E-plain gut 11 1/2, A-plain gut 14 1/2, D-plain gut 19 1/2 and G-Silver plated copper unpolished wound on a gut core 16.
  • Variations are:
    • E-, A- and D-strings have 2 different gauges, respectively, that you can choose individually.

    • G-Copper/gut is an alternative for a slightly darker sound.

*Pirastro gut string tensions are measured in units of PM (Pirastro Measurement) and refer to the diameter of the string. 1 PM = 0.05 mm, so gauge 14 PM = 0.7 mm diameter. The tension of the string varies by 3% for each gauge.
